Spire Global has shipped nine satellites, designed and built in-house, to Vandenberg Space Force Base in California for an upcoming SpaceX Falcon 9 Twilight mission. This shipment comprises Spire's latest Hyperspectral Microwave Sounder (HyMS) demonstrator - a compact, space-ready sensor developed in collaboration with RAL Space and STAR-Dundee Ltd. The HyMS satellite is engineered to gather high-resolution atmospheric measurements including temperature, humidity, and precipitation, contributing to real-time, global weather prediction. Its hyperspectral microwave technology will enhance meteorologists' ability to understand and track the formation and evolution of weather systems.

According to Spire CEO Theresa Condor, "HyMS marks a meaningful step in expanding how we observe Earth's atmosphere from space. Two of the most impactful sources of data for improving forecast accuracy are radio occultation and microwave observations, areas where Spire is uniquely positioned to lead. This mission is a critical milestone on that path to delivering deeper atmospheric insights from space."

The Falcon 9 launch also includes seven additional satellites produced by Spire for external clients and one to replenish Spire's operational data constellation, all assembled and tested at the company's Glasgow facility. Spire's vertically integrated process - encompassing design, manufacturing, testing, and operational management - allows the company to rapidly deploy advanced technologies and respond to customer requirements across commercial and governmental sectors.

Spire currently operates a constellation of over 200 satellites launched through more than 40 missions. The company delivers space-based datasets and analytics that support applications such as global weather intelligence, monitoring of ship and aircraft movements, and spoofing and jamming detection. By offering Space as a Service and radio frequency sensing solutions, Spire's infrastructure enables organizations to make timely, informed decisions based on persistent Earth observation.
