Momentus Inc., a U.S. commercial space company, will partner with DPhi Space to fly a Clustergate-2 edge computing payload on its upcoming Vigoride 7 mission, scheduled for launch in early 2026. The payload will enable direct software deployment and AI agent testing in orbit. Clustergate-2 functions as a modular platform allowing users to develop, upload, and operate software applications on a satellite in real time.
DPhi Space's Clustergate-2 system converts host satellites into shared computational hubs. The payload supports access to multi-core processors including CPU, FPGA, and Nvidia GPU, connecting applications to in-orbit sensor and telemetry data for rigorous validation. Software can be uploaded from an online dashboard at any time throughout the mission, enabling continuous testing and flight heritage development for code in orbit.
John Rood, CEO of Momentus, stated, "We're excited that our partnership with DPhi Space will provide a new capability to allow a broad range of companies and users to develop and test software and applications on-orbit." He noted this access will allow organizations to validate technology and foster growth in new revenue segments, beginning with the upcoming mission.
The Vigoride 7 launch is targeted for early 2026 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Companies, research groups, and developers are invited to join the project to deploy AI agents and software through the Clustergate platform. Interested organizations can contact the Momentus Commercial team or visit the DPhi Space project website for details on participation and the waitlist.
