China launches classified Shijan-26 satellite with Long March 4B rocket

A Long March 4B rocket lifts off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on May 29, 2025, carrying the classified Shijian-26 satellite. A large plume of orange and white smoke billows to the left of the launch pad under an overcast sky.

China carried out its ninth launch of the month early Thursday, sending the secretive Shijian-26 spacecraft into orbit.
