Zeno Power has recently announced a strategic partnership with Westinghouse Electric Company, a significant move in the pursuit of advancing radioisotope power systems (RPSs). This collaboration is set to transform the way RPSs are fabricated, leveraging Westinghouse Electric's extensive experience in handling radioisotope materials.

Westinghouse Electric to Process Radioisotopes for Zeno's RPSs
Under the new agreement, Westinghouse Electric will be responsible for processing radioisotopes, a crucial step in creating the heat sources for Zeno Power's RPSs. These systems are designed to convert heat from radioisotopes into a continuous and clean energy supply, ideal for applications in remote locations like deep-sea environments and even outer space missions.

Tyler Bernstein, Co-Founder and CEO of Zeno Power, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, "Working with Westinghouse, we will build the nuclear hardware for our RPSs to provide reliable power in the most critical domains of the 21st century - from the depths of the oceans to the surface of the Moon."

A Milestone in Commercial RPS Development
The collaboration marks a pivotal moment for Zeno Power, as it aims to bring the first commercial RPSs to the market by 2026. Westinghouse's expertise in novel technology development and material evaluations aligns seamlessly with Zeno's innovative approach to RPS technology.

Dan Sumner, President of Westinghouse Operating Plant Services, shared his enthusiasm, saying, "Westinghouse has a long history of building innovative nuclear technologies that provide safe, reliable, and carbon-free power. Our relationship with Zeno Power aligns with our vision to expand the use of nuclear into new markets."

Building on Past Success
This new phase in Zeno's journey builds upon a successful nuclear demonstration at Pacific Northwest National Lab last October. The demonstration showcased the increased specific power of Zeno's Sr-90 heat source compared to traditional Sr-90 sources, underscoring the potential of Zeno's patented innovation in enhancing RPS efficiency.

Harsh S. Desai, Chief Commercialization Officer of Zeno Power, reflected on this progress, stating, "We've demonstrated the core building block of our technology - now we're pleased to be working with the remarkable team at Westinghouse to enable and accelerate the deployment of our commercial RPSs."
