In a significant milestone for Asian space exploration, the Tongchuan Test Center at the 165th Institute of the Sixth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation has successfully executed a run on its No. 2 test bench on May 30.

This accomplishment comes on the heels of a successful test run of the No. 1 station test bench on April 24. Together, these developments confirm that both test benches at the site now possess a foundational testing capacity of 700 tons of thrust, representing the largest thrust test capability in Asia.

This achievement reflects the completion of an exhaustive assessment of the process and dynamics involved in transitioning between the two testing stations at the bench. Looking ahead, these facilities will regularly conduct alternating dual-station test runs to meet the evolving demands of engine development and fulfill various testing prerequisites.

On the eve of this accomplishment, the China Manned Space Engineering Office announced the initiation of the lunar landing phase of China's manned lunar exploration project on May 29. As part of the ambitious project, China intends to achieve its inaugural manned lunar landing by 2030.
