The United States' Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a $175,000 civil penalty to SpaceX for failing "to submit launch collision analysis trajectory data directly to the FAA before the launch of its Falcon 9 rocket in August 2022, which carried Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Per federal regulations, the data must be submitted at least seven days before a launch.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulates commercial space flight in the United States. They are in charge of licensing all domestic and international launches and reentries in the United States.

According to the FAA, "Launch collision analysis trajectory data is used to assess the probability of the launch vehicle colliding with one of the thousands of tracked objects orbiting the Earth," SpaceX has 30 days to respond to the FAA's enforcement letter.
