Orion spacecraft makes crucial move toward its 2026 launch to moon
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
NASA's Orion spacecraft was moved seven miles to the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center Thursday, its second-to-last move before its scheduled launch in 2026.
NASA got an exception to allow it to continue work during the government shutdown in certain areas, including the Artemis II mission.

Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
The European Space Agency (ESA), in collaboration with ArianeGroup and MT Aerospace, is progressing with the Phoebus project to explore replacing metallic cryogenic tanks on the Ariane 6 upper stage with carbon-fibre reinforced-plastic (CFRP) tanks. The initiative could reduce launch mass by several tonnes, but introduces complex challenges in maintaining integrity at extreme cryogenic condition Atomic-6 Unveils Space Armor Tiles to Shield Spacecraft and Astronauts from High-Speed Debris
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
Atomic-6, a specialist in advanced composite materials, has introduced Space Armor tiles - the first orbital debris shield designed to block hypervelocity impacts while allowing unhindered radio communications. These RF-permeable protection tiles are engineered to prevent fragmentation and eliminate the risk of secondary debris, setting a new benchmark in spacecraft safety and sustainability. Space Quarters Secures $5 Million to Pioneer Robotic Space Construction
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
Space Quarters Inc., a deep-tech startup spun out from Tohoku University, has raised $5.0 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of robotic and electron beam welding systems for constructing large-scale infrastructure in orbit and on the Moon. The funding round was led by Frontier Innovations Inc., with additional investment from Keio Innovation Initiative, Global Brain's Tokyu Co HyImpulse secures 45 million euros to accelerate orbital rocket program
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
HyImpulse Technologies GmbH has raised 45 million euros in new funding to advance development of its hybrid-propelled SL1 orbital launch vehicle and expand its production capacity, marking a milestone for European-made rocket technology. Mysterious glow in Milky Way could be evidence of dark matter
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
Johns Hopkins researchers may have identified what could be a compelling clue in the ongoing hunt to prove the existence of dark matter.
A mysterious diffuse glow of gamma rays near the center of the Milky Way has stumped researchers for decades, as they've tried to discern whether the light comes from colliding particles of dark matter or quickly spinning neutron stars.
It turns out Sateliot and ESA collaborate on system to remove GPS reliance in satellite IoT
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
Sateliot has launched its first joint research and development project with the European Space Agency (ESA) to test a satellite communication system capable of operating independently from global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) such as GPS.
The initiative, called the FreeGNSSNetwork project, represents a major step toward Europe's goal of strategic autonomy in Defense and Security comm Quantum radio receiver uses laser light and atomic resonance to detect microwaves
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
Researchers at the University of Warsaw's Faculty of Physics and the Centre for Quantum Optical Technologies (QOT) have created a new class of all-optical radio receivers that operate using the quantum properties of Rydberg atoms. Powered entirely by laser light, the system eliminates traditional metal antennas and offers self-calibrating, ultra-sensitive detection of radio signals.
The br China marks milestone 600th Long March rocket launch
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
China's Long March rocket series has reached a major milestone with its 600th flight, following the successful launch of a Long March-8A vehicle that deployed a new group of internet satellites into orbit on Thursday.
Since its debut more than five decades ago, the Long March family has carried nearly 1,400 spacecraft into orbit, accounting for over 86 percent of China's total space laun
Conditions right Thursday night for Northern Lights in 15 states
Sunday, 19 October 2025 07:54
The Aurora Borealis, typically only seen in the farthest northern reaches in the coldest winter months, could be visible in 15 U.S. states Thursday night, scientists reported.
The National Atmospheric Oceanic and Administration issued a geomagnetic storm watch for Thursday, which is responsible for the Northern Lights' unusual geographical visibility.
The storm has prompted a ser Researchers' autonomous system makes it easier to transport cargo on the moon
