Meteorite contains evidence of liquid water on Mars 742M years ago
An asteroid struck Mars 11 million years ago and sent pieces of the red planet hurtling through space. One of these chunks of Mars eventually crashed into the Earth somewhere near Purdue and is one of the few meteorites that can be traced directly to Mars. This meteorite was rediscovered in a drawer at Purdue University in 1931 and therefore named the Lafayette Meteorite.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has laid-off an additional 325 workers after an earlier round of 500 job cuts earlier in the year, largely because of budgetary constraints.
"The impacts are occurring across technical, business and support areas of the Laboratory," JPL officials wrote in a Tuesday update.
NASA's federally-funded JPL is managed by the California Institute of Techn Wearable tech for space station research
