Eurisy

Eurisy's is an association supporting the space community bridging the gap between space and society.

Members include most space agencies or governmental offices in charge of space affairs in Europe, and international organisations dealing with space matters. Eurisy has also Members in Turkey and Morocco.

  • Eurisy raises awareness of emerging satellite applications which can help professional communities in many sectors of application: from transport to risk management, from habitat protection to energy, from climate change to the Internet of Things, to name a few.
  • Eurisy supports potential end-users of satellite applications by leveraging its network to make available experience and expertise for them.
  • On the basis of its field work with end-users, Eurisy provides feedback to decision-makers on possible measures to overcome obstacles to the diffusion of space-derived innovation in society.

Satellite Industry Association (SIA)

The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) was formed in 1995 by several major US satellite companies as a forum to discuss issues and develop industry-wide positions on shared business, regulatory and policy interests.

SIA grew out of the Satellite Super Skyway Coalition, a voluntary alliance of major satellite players, galvanized into action in early 1993 when the U.S. Government began advancing the idea of a Global Information Infrastructure (GII). The success of the coalition in defining the role of satellites in the GII strengthened ties between major industry players and sowed the seeds for what today is the Satellite Industry Association.

Since that time, SIA has developed into a full service 501(c) (6) trade association representing the commercial satellite industry. SIA has established active working groups involved with a host of policy issues including: regulatory issues (satellite licensing, spectrum allocation and regulatory policy); government services, public safety, export control policy, and international trade issues. SIA is now a recognized focal point for the U.S. satellite industry in Washington, D.C., representing and advocating industry positions with key policy makers on Capitol Hill and with the White House, Federal Communication Commission and most Executive Branch departments and agencies.

GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research

The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research (German: GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH) is a federally and state co-funded heavy ion research center in the Wixhausen suburb of Darmstadt, Germany. GSI was founded in 1969 as the Society for Heavy Ion Research (German: Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung), abbreviated GSI, to conduct research on and with heavy-ion accelerators.

The laboratory performs basic and applied research in physics and related natural science disciplines. Main fields of study include plasma physics, atomic physics, nuclear structure and reactions research, biophysics and medical research. The lab is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres.

GSI operates a worldwide unique large-scale accelerator facility for heavy ions and currently employs about 1.100 people. In addition approximately 1.000 researchers from universities and other research institutes around the world use the facility for their experiments.

GSI is a limited liability company (Ger. GmbH). Associates are the German Federal Government (90 per cent), the State of Hessen (8 per cent), the State of Rhineland-Palatinate (1 per cent) and the Free State of Thuringia (1 per cent). They are represented in the board of directors by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the respective Ministries. GSI is a member of the Helmholtz Association, Germany's largest research organisation.

The goal of the scientific research conducted at GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung is to reach a better understanding of the structure and behavior of the world that surrounds us.
