Galileo Space Segment Equipment Service Manager, Galileo Space Segment Management Office, Galileo Programme Department, Directorate of Navigation.
You will be in charge of ensuring the delivery of atomic clocks and Radiation Monitoring Equipment to be supplied by ESA as Customer-Furnished Items for the Galileo Satellites, alongside the follow up of technology preparatory activities of relevance for the Galileo Satellites.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
- CFI Procurement Tasks for G2 Project
- Initiation and execution of the industrial procurement activities for the Galileo G2 Customer-Furnished Item equipment within time and cost and in line with the requirements (technical, Product Assurance, Programmatic and Security) of the Galileo G2 Satellites;
- Galileo Space Segment Technology Activities
- Coordination of TEC laboratory activities, preparation of yearly plans and budgets (manpower and investment), monitoring of the progress of the work, provision of recommendations to the Head of the Space Segment Management Office and the FOC Satellite and G2A/B Space Segment management services.
- Execution of industrial procurement activities for the Galileo Payload Test Bed
- The development/procurement responsibilities for:
- Activities relevant to on-board equipment developed under the EGEP/H2020/Horizon Europe Programmes to meet the Galileo evolutions technical requirements.
- Leading and motivating the ESA Team assigned to the Unit (integrated, nominated and functional), identifying the specialised engineering support from the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management, setting early objectives and performing annual assessments in a timely manner;
- Preparation, management and tracking of manpower, running cost, schedules, risks and financial budgets relevant to the Unit's activities;
- Close coordination with other Galileo Space Segment functions (PA, PMSO, security) and with the FOC Satellite and G2A/G2B Space Segment Management Services as appropriate to ensure alignment of objectives, timely resolution of issues and reflection of key lessons learned into the equipment development activities;
- Regular and ad-hoc reporting to the Head of the Galileo Space Segment Management Office.
In performing these duties, you will:
- Cooperate closely with the FOC Satellite Management Service to ensure gathering of lessons learned from current developments and in-orbit observations;
- Cooperate closely with the G2A/G2B Space Segment Management Services to ensure alignment of objectives (technical and programmatic) and timely resolution of issues;
- Cooperate closely with the other Galileo Space Segment Functions (PA, PMSO, security) to maintain efficiency in the running of the Unit.

In accordance with the European Space Agency’s security procedures and as part of the selection process, successful candidates will be required to undergo basic screening before appointment.
Recruitment will normally be at the first grade in the band (A2); however, if the candidate selected has little or no experience, the position may be filled at A1 level.
Candidates shall be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration.
A Master's degree in engineering is required.
You should have acquired a minimum of 7 years of experience in industry working on the development and production of electronic equipment for satellites.
You will also be required to:

• have strong problem-solving skills to deal with day-to-day operational challenges, along with demonstrated planning and organisational skills;
• be strongly results-focused, setting priorities and presenting practical solutions orally and in writing;

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
